Why get involved?

I say, "Why Not?"

  • When you walk down the street and pass someone sleeping on a grate, do you not feel some urge to help increase affordable housing?
  • When you read about the challenge of climate change, are you content to accept it as it comes?
  • When you learn that because of a lack of english skills, some people can't find jobs, and as a result their children sometime go to school hungry--would you consider volunteering in a program for english as a second language?
  • When you don't like what your government is doing, wouldn't you like to help shape alternative policies?

I keep hearing that Canadians, particularly youth, are "apathetic". But I don't think that's true. On the contrary, I believe that many people care and want to get involved, but they often don't know where to start.

Why not ask us?

There are lots of ways to get involved, to make a difference, and to feel the personal satisfaction that comes from stepping up to a challenge.

A lot of what we do is with the community, Willowdale and beyond, regardless of politics. There are also lots of other organizations, depending on your area of interest, that we can put you in contact with. There is always room for more engagement, in our work in Ottawa and in Willowdale--indeed, anywhere in Canada. And we have a lot of fun doing what we do.

So, introduce yourself, tell us what you're interested in, and ask us any questions you may have about how to get involved; email TeamMHF@gmail.com.

I, and the team, look forward to hearing from you!
